Announcing Yihong Xia - OYCF Endowment Foundation

In memory of Yihong's ambitious young life, an endowment foundation has been created under the Overseas Young Chinese Forum(OYCF). The Yihong Xia-OYCF Endowment Foundation (henceforth “the Foundation”) has been established by her family, friends and many others whose lives were touched by her. The foundation’s mission is to support research/teaching of finance in China and to encourage more young talents to continue and further Yihong’s cause.

Purpose of the Foundation

OYCF has set up a specific and separate sub-fund for the Foundation. Donations to the Foundation are not commingled with other funds under OYCF, and they are used solely for the purpose specified below.

Beginning in 2006, the Foundation will present a “Yihong Xia Best Paper Award” at the annual China International Finance Conference organized by China Center for Financial Research(CCFR). Depending on the funding status of the Foundation, the Foundation may in the future identify other worthy causes and sponsor scholarships, fellowships, awards and prizes under the name of Yihong Xia.

About CCFR and China International Finance Conference

The China Center for Financial Research (CCFR), in the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, is devoted to high quality research to support the development of China’s financial system. It will introduce and apply the theories, methodologies, applications and technologies of modern finance to the practical problems encountered in China’s financial development. Through research, CCFR hopes to provide theoretical and empirical support in shaping China’s financial policies, developing and managing its financial markets and institutions, and shaping up the corporate governance structure. It will also develop a set of high level education and training programs by international standards to meet China’s urgent needs for high quality researchers and educators in finance. Professor Jiang Wang of MIT is the Director of CCFR.

Among the main events organized by the CCFR is the annual China International Finance Conference series, which are co-sponsored by the Sloan School of Management of MIT. The conference series has been recognized as the best of its kind in terms of bringing together researchers from around the globe and discussing financial economic research on all topics and subjects in China and other countries. The keynote speakers for the first three conferences were Professors Franklin Allen (Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania), Stewart Myers (Sloan School of MIT), and Marti Gruber (Stern School of New York University).
